All Hallows' Eve

Posted on 3:49 AM by jr cline | 2 comments

I have to point out that Halloween is a Christian holiday as much as it is a pagan holiday. So get over it.
Halloween "...initiates the triduum of Allhallowtide, the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed believers.  Within Allhallowtide, the traditional focus of All Hallows' Eve revolves around the theme of using "humor and ridicule to confront the power of death." ~ Wikipedia
It's all fun.  Happy Halloween.

Dam Bird Hunting Adventure

Posted on 2:09 PM by jr cline | 0 comments

I had a dam adventure trying to photograph birds.

Turtle sunning on a log

This sod truck had managed to get stuck.
Lack of experience?
Stupidity?
Someone held a gun to his head?
It blocked traffic for thirty minutes.

Look at me!  Look at me!
Flap! Flap!

I had a good dam time.

It was time for Christy to get some new ink. Off we trekked to New Needle Tattoo, home of her favorite artist.

Jason Stage is the owner and primary artist at New Needle.

NOLA May 2014 v4

Posted on 12:40 PM by jr cline | 0 comments

When Christy, Jesse, and I went to New Orleans we rode the Crescent.  If you've never taken the train, you should give a try. I find it enjoyable and when I arrive, I'm not tired.

I enjoy looking at the various train stations we pass through.  Each has it's own personality.

It's a long ride, especially for a four year old.  Jesse handles it well, sometimes better than the adults.

NOLA May 2014 v3

Christy, Jesse, and I went to the Audubon Zoo while we were in New Orleans.  It is a stop we make on almost every trip.  I posted some animal pictures in the the previous blog and I thought I would share pictures of my co-conspirators.

Watching Jesse play

What do you mean we have to go back to the house?  I'm not done!

Weogufka Creek

Posted on 6:03 PM by jr cline | 0 comments

Earlier this week I was able to spend some time taking pictures along Weogufka Creek.  It was too hot to stay long but I did get a few good shots.

The dragonfly let me get pretty close.  I was surprised.

This flower was growing in the creek.  Does anyone recognize it?

Christy, Jesse, and I went to the Audubon Zoo while we were in New Orleans.  It is a stop we make on almost every trip.

Flamingos are graceful and beautiful birds. I enjoy watching them.

I think this is a Sun Bear.  He was posing for everyone.

This beautiful leopard was posing too.

Snoozing
Some animals had better things to do than pose for photographers.

The orangutans were active.  They were climbing all over their environment.

This beautiful peafowl had taken a strategic position over the sidewalk.  I wonder what it was thinking as it watched the people passing under it's perch.  i don't know, but I was careful not to walk under the bird.  lol
