This is actually a picture of the reflection of a
Pentax W90s lights reflected on a clear plastic cup.

Faries

The Realm of Fairy is a strange shadow land, lying just beyond the fields we know.  ~Author Unknown

When the winds of March are wakening the crocuses and crickets,
Did you ever find a fairy near some budding little thickets,...
And when she sees you creeping up to get a closer peek
She tumbles through the daffodils, a playing hide and seek.
~Marjorie Barrows

Nothing can be truer than fairy wisdom.  It is as true as sunbeams.  ~Douglas Jerrold

Deaf folk hear the fairies
However soft their song;
'Tis we who lose the honey sound
Amid the clamor all around
That beats the whole day long.
~Rose Fyleman

Hand in hand, with fairy grace,
Will we sing, and bless this place.
~William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night's Dream

Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again.
~ C. S. Lewis

We call them faerie.  We don't believe in them.  Our loss.  ~Charles de Lint

She isn't really my aunt.
She is just a lady I saw at the Georgia Renaissance Festival

Day 22- something you wish you were better at.

Day 12- a picture of something you love

OK, I know Jesse isn't a thing.
I still love him and think he counts in more ways than one.

Day 11- a picture of something you hate

Gone - flitted away,
Taken the stars from the night and the sun
From the day!
Gone, and a cloud in my heart.
~Alfred Tennyson

One of the things I hate is people I love going away for the last time whether it be because our lives have taken different roads or death has come to their door.

30 day challenge day 10

Day 10- a picture of the person you do/did the most fucked up things with.

I had to use the 'Wayback' machine to find this picture.
By far, these two are the people I've done the most fucked up things with.
We just tend to have a great time as a trio or when it is just any two of us.

I miss them both!

30 day challenge day 9

Day 9- a picture of the person who has gotten you through the most.

My parents are the people who got me through the most.  For 57 years they were always there if I ever needed help.  It is odd that they 'don't have my back' any more.  Most the time I feel like I'm out here in the world and if something happens or I need help, I'm on my own.
I've posted a version of this picture before. This one is different.  I left the dust on the glass because they are gone and their memory ever so slowly fades.  If you look closely you  can make out my reflection (something I normally wouldn't tolerate in a shot),.  I'm there for a reason, my very existence is a reflection of the two of them.

30 day challenge days 6 - 8

Day 6- a picture of your family

This is Einstein. He is a four year old Red Loried Amazon.
Einstein is friendly, whistles, and says several words.

 This is Bilbo the parrotlet.
Bilbo is less than a year old.
He joined our flock last September.

Day 7- your most treasured item.

In the process of simplifying my life in preparation for moving into an RV
I've given a lot of thought to what items are 'keepers'.
It isn't as easy as it seems to part with items you've kept
(and maybe cherished) for years.
One item I know will travel with me is my camera(s) and camera gear.

Day 8- a picture that makes you laugh

This was a fairly easy picture to take.
After over a year since my parent's deaths,
I find it hysterical that my siblings still have things in the house
and that the house isn't for sale.

New toy

I picked up a Pentax Optio W90 this week.

Here are four of my first exploratory pictures.

Taken before dawn using available light and the camera's night setting.

A tiny piece of curly vine attached to.
the  pumpkin in the previous picture.
Taken in daylight using the camera's macro setting.

The center of a begonia blossom.
Taken in daylight using the camera's macro setting.

The temperature on a six inch tall outside thermometer.
Taken this afternoon using the camera's auto setting.

So far I really like this point and shoot.
It won't replace my big camera, but it will be a lot of fun.
